When it comes to movies or television series, I believe that comedy and action are some of the best genres. Although, we can never underestimate the craze and popularity of horror movies. There is a sort of limit with romantic, action and comedy movies. But, horror movies (covering almost all sub-genres) are just evergreen.

It’s not always the plot but spooky surprises that make these horror movies exciting. Even though, these movies are quite fun but there are certain things that you can found in these movies. In this post, we will take a look at some of those common things that we get to see in all horror movies:
Ghosts Showing Up in Mirrors or in Hallways
I guess all horror movies begin with this evergreen cliché. A person will always get to interact with the ghost or the killer in the hallway. Sometimes, when someone closes a door or a closet, the image of a ghost appears on the mirror attached to it.
Apparent Death of A Black Character
I am not saying that horror movies promote racism or something. But, most of these spooky movies include a scene in which the killer kills a black character mercilessly. I will never get the point of adding such a sequence especially in the first half of these movies.
Most Predictable Hiding Places
When someone enters in your house to kill you in a single shot, where would you hide preferably? According to some of the most popular horror movies, people must hide in a closet or under a table. Even though, there are plenty of rooms in the house but of new use for the victim. Because the killer is strong enough to break those doors.
General Chitchat with the Intruders
There are many things in movies that don’t make any sense and this is one of them. How would you react when you are alone at home and not expecting anyone? People in horror movies don’t think that much and ask the intruder, ‘who’s there?’
Animals Jumping on Characters
I love cats and I think that they are one of the most beautiful creatures on earth. But, I believe that the makers of these movies don’t think so. When there is a creepy situation in the movie, a cat will jump on a character to scare the hell out of a person.
Ghost Standing Right Behind the Person
If you are walking alone in a house, then don’t turn around. In fact, never even think of turning back. If you do so, then you will definitely confront a disturbing and creepy face behind you. That’s what most horror movies have told us so far.
People Walking in the Dark
We aren’t living in an era where Thomas Edison (Inventor of light bulbs) is still a kid. At the time, we have a remarkable approach to electricity and light. So what is the point of walking in dark when someone can sense the presence of danger? Illogical cliché!
The Stupid Game of Splitting Up
This is the point where all logic die and stupidity takes hold of everything. When there is a ‘do or die’ situation, the group decides to move away in different direction. If such things happen in real life, sensible people will never make these kinds of decisions.
Haunting On Numerous Levels
Ghosts are fun creature and they like to play with you in their own ways. According to horror movies, they won’t do anything when you will move to a new house. They give some time to their new visitors and begin haunting in different stages.
A Husband Who Won’t Listen
As I mentioned above, ‘ghosts play games on various levels. First, they try to scare the wife who is engaged in household chores. When she is scared to her very core, she would try to tell this to her husband. But, husband would just not believe it at all costs.
Phones are invented for the convenience of the mankind. But, even cellphones are afraid of killers and especially ghosts and spirits. This is the reason why the characters in these movies always find cellphones dead in horrific situations.
Death After Making Out
Deaths after a sexy scene are one of the most common scenes in these movies. A girl is bound to be killed if she’s been doing naughty stuff with someone. Seriously, I don’t want to sound mean but this doesn’t make any sense. Ghosts are not prude, right?
Horror movies have numerous sub genres including slasher, found footage, psychological, haunted house and possession. No matter what genre you’re watching, you will find these common things probably in every single horror movie. Do you think that some of these aspects of horror movies are annoying?
